The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has set its eyes on at least eight elective positions in Uasin Gishu County.
Among the eight are seven Member of County Assembly (MCA) seats and one Member of Parliament.
Uasin Gishu is considered a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) stronghold, based on the fact that it is home to Deputy President William Ruto, who is also the party’s leader.

But despite being DP Ruto’s home Azimio leaders in the county believe they have a chance to win the elective positions they will be fielding candidates.
Among the MCA seats, the Azimio la Umoja coalition is eyeing in the county, are Huruma and Langas.
The current MCAs in the two wards were elected on a Jubilee party ticket.
However, only Francis Muya is defending his seat on a Jubilee ticket, after Lucy Ng’endo Chomba who won elected during the Huruma byelection in 2021 joined UDA, a party he will be using to defend the seat.

In Huruma, lawyer Kimani Wanjohi was recently issued the Jubilee ticket.
Wanjohi received a boost in his bid after an ODM candidate, Andrew Sure, stepped down in his favor.

Another ward the Azimio team in Uasin Gishu is hoping to bag is Kiplombe. In the last two elections, an ODM candidate won the seat.
The current MCA Ramadhan Ali is expected to defend the seat, also on an ODM ticket.
Other wards the Azimio team will be fielding candidates in the county include Kapsoya, Kapsaos, Moi’s Bridge, and Olare/Ainabkoi.
