Career Growth Should Never Be Reason for Marriage Collapse – Mandago

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago is advising young couples not to be afraid of investing in career growth.

Mandago says as much as the youthful couple should be focusing on building their marriage, they should aspire to better their careers as well.

“Marriage is an institution which has its own regulations and responsibility. We also want you to build your careers. As you rise in the career, that marriage institution must be secured within that career rise,” Mandago said.

He spoke in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County during the wedding ceremony of Sharon Mololi and Nicholas Tuwei – son to area Member of Parliament Vincent Tuwei.

The County boss dismissed a perception that career growth will usually lead to a collapse of marriage.

“Career growth is not the reason your marriage should collapse. It is possible you rise in your career – support each other to climb through the ladder – but secure the marriage and make it strong,” Mandago advised.

Borrowing from an example of a past marriage talk from former Minister and Member of Parliament Dr. Sally Kosgey, the vocal governor serving his second term said marriage, education, and career growth never contradict.

And with a growing misconception about marriage and career growth, Mandago wants the young couples to be role models to the youth who are yet to be married – by ensuring they work on building their careers and marriage at the same time.

“You will be respected if you’re role models to others and do away with the notion that when you grow career-wise marriage becomes impossible,” Mandago said.
