The County Government of Uasin Gishu in partnership with the Kenya Development Support Program is set to launch twelve new bridges in various wards that have already been awarded to contractors to upgrade connectivity and improve the livelihoods of its residents under the FY 2021/2022.
According to Roads, Transport, Energy, and Public Works County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Engineer Gideon Birir, already seven bridges have been completed including all-weather roads to enhance connectivity to farms and the markets with a view to ensuring farmers who embraced cash crops like
macadamia, avocado, coffee, and also dairy reach markets without delay.
Those areas earmarked for construction of bridges and already awarded tenders include Murgusi -Tarus primary bridge in Ng’ennyilel ward, Chepkongi-Simat bridge connecting Kamagut and Simat ward, Tanzania-Emgwen bridge in Kiplombe ward, Kipkaren-Biseria bridge joining Olare Ainabkoi and Tarakwa ward.

Others are the Bodalands-Chelabal bridge connecting Ngeria ward to the Eldoret International Airport, Cheplakei-Kongnyalil which opens up the Meibeki ward, an area where a lot of Tomatoes are grown, Vumilia Box Culvert joining public schools, and Vumilia neighborhoods.
The other areas set to benefit from the project are Kapseret forest which joins two villages of St. Pauls and Chepkongi, Kapkoros-Kipsomba bridges, Kong’asis-KILUKA joining Kong’asis and Kiluka villages, KAOMI Box Culvert in Wonifer, and Kapseser Box Culvert in Sirgoit ward.
