Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, opened a health facility named after one of the veteran athletes in the country – Moses Kiptanui.

Moses Kiptanui is a Kenyan middle and long-distance athlete mostly famous for 3,000 m steeplechase in which he was the number one ranked athlete from 1991 to 1995 and three-time IAAF World Champion.

Kiptanui was also the first man ever to run 3000m steeplechase in under eight minutes.

While on his working visit to Kuinet/Kapsuswo ward, in Soy Sub County, the county boss commissioned Moses Kiptanui Dispensary.

Mandago said the dispensary will serve to decongest the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and other Hospitals within Eldoret town, by treating minor ailments.

The dispensary will serve more than 2,000 people. Later Governor Mandago presided over the groundbreaking for the construction of the Shirika dispensary.

He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that all the projects he started will be completed and commissioned.

Mandag who is serving his second and last term also commissioned Kuinet/Kapsuswo ward office.

The office, the county boss said, will enhance service delivery to the ward level as all the devolved services will be brought closer to mwananchi at the village level.

“We want to actualize devolution by bringing services to ward level. There will be no need of travelling to county headquarters seeking services,” the county boss said.

Already the county government of Uasin Gishu has constructed Sub County offices, in almost all the 6 constituencies of Kesses, Ainabkoi, Kapseret, Moiben, Turbo, and Soy.

Some of the offices have been commissioned and are already being used, while construction for others is nearing completion.

Mandago has already declared interest in vying for the Senate seat once his term comes to an end.

The key objective of the establishment of the Sub-County offices in all six sub-counties is to enhance service delivery and bring them closer to the residents of Uasin Gishu.
