It’s all go for the newly completed arboretum in Uasin Gishu’s capital, Eldoret town.
The Eldoret Arboretum is one of Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson K Mandago’s flagship projects under the Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP).
Construction works for the multi-billion project has met all its requirements as intended during its implementation, and is now ready for commissioning.
“The arboretum upon commissioning will be an excellent place for the residents of Uasin Gishu County and beyond to partake in recreational activities, research on plant species, and take walks and jog around,” notes the county’s communication team.
Locals will also be able to view Eldoret town and its environs from the 5 storey tower built in the Eldoret arboretum.
Completion of the facility comes as another boost for Eldoret’s bid to be elevated to the city status.
One of the requirements, under the Urban and Cities Act for a town to get the city status is having an arboretum.
