Elgeyo Marakwet is among nine counties in Kenya that were on Thursday recognised for their efforts in championing citizen-centred governance.
Governor Wisley Rotich led the County Department of Public Service in receiving a compliance certificate for good service delivery efforts in the Financial Year under review, 2022/23.
The County has been participating in a Good Governance Program supported by the German Development Agency, GIZ.

“When I assumed office, I pledged that we shall be responsive to the public. _Gavana wa Raia_ was not just a campaign slogan,” said the Governor.
The award ceremony organised by the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), was held at KICC, Nairobi and presided over by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.
Accompanying the Governor in receiving the award was the County team that championed these efforts led by CEC Incharge of Public Service Monica Rotich, Chief Officer Daniel Kimutai, Complaints Management Committee Chair Michael Sengech and members Vincent Bartoo, Agnetta Tanui and Ivy Kittony.

The Governor thanked GIZ for capacity-building County staff in implementing the good governance program in Elgeyo Marakwet.
“I urge our people to continuously give us feedback on our performance utilising our existing feedback communication channels, including our helpline 0704220220,” added the Governor.
