Former Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara Recalled

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki has announced the transfer of at least 20 County Commissioners.

In a posting order seen by Uasin Gishu News, the CS has also recalled four County Commissioners to the Ministry Headquarters for further redeployment.

To enhance service delivery within the National Administration, changes have been made among County Commissioners in all the 47 Counties of the Republic of Kenya with effect from 7th March 2023,” CS Kindiki said in the posting order.

Among those recalled in an order dated March 7, 2023, is former Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara.

Kihara was the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner during the August 9, 2022, general election period.

He however faced accusations of campaigning for the Azimio coalition, as well as fanning ethnic divisions.

But before the Kenya Kwanza government took over power, he was transferred to Embu County.

Other County Commissioners recalled for deployment are Herman Shambi of Nandi, Mathias Rioba (Trans Nzoia) and Kirinyaga’s Michael Ivuto.

In the list of those transferred include former Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdirisak Jaldesa who has been moved from Baringo to Mombasa and Gideon Oyagi who is the new Trans Nzoia County Commissioner.

Oyagi has been serving in Kwale.

Other notable transfers include Susan Waweru who has been named the new Nairobi County Commissioner.

She has been moved from Vihiga County.

However, 15 County Commissioners will remain in their current stations.

They include Dr Eddyson Nyale of Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet’s John Korir.

12 Deputy County Commissioners have been promoted to County Commissioners while 8 other Deputy County Commissioners have been transferred.
