A popular Kenyan Counseling Psychologist, Conference Speaker, and Life Coach Benjamin Zulu has cautioned against getting involved in romantic relationships that involve paying rent or bills.
According to Zulu, such relationships never lead to marriage but s*x.
“For purposes of clarity guys, if you have this lover who is paying your rent or bills and you’re counting months or years together, that’s not a relationship leading to marriage but a transaction leading to s*x,” Benjamin Zulu notes in a post on his Facebook page.
“Oh, plus a chunk of wasted time spiced with a good heartbreak in the end,” he adds.
The life coach points out that once your perceived lover gets what he/she wanted from that relationship, they move on to another supplier of the same services.
At that point, he notes, one might think he/she has been heartbroken “when in fact your client just got bored”.
“Healthy dating never involves bills or years of sex. It’s an interview that is done with no strings attached and a decision arrived after just enough interactions to know the person,” says the counseling psychologist.
He points out that in case you are in a relationship with a person of the opposite sex, get it from your family.
Zulu also advises that you should probably forget dating until you can stand on your own financially.
“Otherwise if you want these kinds of relationships you might as well settle it in your mind that this is a trade-off and not a relationship leading anywhere.
And in that case remember you’ll be selling your body, your dignity, your time, and your future for a bowl of soup. What a deal!” Benjamin Zulu notes.
