Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has dismissed claims that he was involved in planning an attack against former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Kabenes Soy Sub County on Friday, April 1, 2022.
Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed who was with the ODM leader during the incident claimed, in an interview with Citizen TV last night, that Mandago was the one coordinating the attack.
Junet had claimed that Mandago made frequent calls, moving in and out of the room where Raila was during the incident.

But addressing a media briefing at the County Headquarters in Eldoret town, the governor said he was not the kind of politician that believe in violence.
“I am not in that league of organizing violence against other politicians. If I was the one planning the attack, I would not have offered my car and security to the Raila team. And my car ended up stoned and screen shuttered,” Mandago said.
He said the frequent calls he was receiving and making were because of the incident in which a vehicle belonging to one of the lawyers had been stolen at the burial of MzeeJackson Kibor.
“When Raila and his team arrived, we were trying to sort out some issues. A car to one of the advocates had been stolen and we were helping trace it before it went far,” he explained.
During the incident, a helicopter that had carried the ODM leader ended up with a cracked windshield.
Raila allies have since claimed the attack was an attempt o the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate.
No one was however during the incident.
Police have already arrested 14 people believed to have been involved in the incident.

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara says that among the arrested is the coordinator of the attack that has attracted widespread condemnation.
“We have been able to get statements from the Captain who was carrying the former Prime Minister who has given as details of what he saw and the Chief Inspector that was with Raila,” Kihara told Journalists.
“Probe into the incident is heading somewhere as we have been able to get vital information about the attack,” he added.
