Inside Plan to Bolster Household Incomes in Elgeyo Marakwet

Governor Wisley Rotich on Tuesday launched the process of formulating an innovative Wealth Creation Policy targeting to bolster household incomes in Elgeyo Marakwet.

The Governor hosted all Staff from the Agriculture, Livestock, Veterinary, Cooperatives, Trade, Tourism, Economic Planning, Ward administrator, Sub-County adminstrators, Directors, Chief Officers and CECs in Iten to discuss and enrich the zero draft of the wealth creation policy.

The policy will be presented for public participation in all 20 wards and citizens, professionals and all stakeholders will be involved in crafting the final document.

This policy aims to make it mandatory to have every resident to participate in cash crop growing, dairy farming, livestock farming, beekeeping, poultry keeping among others,” noted the county boss

It also seeks to ensure each ward has one functional farmers cooperative society with every farmer being a member.

The Policy has also proposed the creation of sub locational wealth creation committees to spearhead the program at household levels.

We will continue seeking for views from all our residents before we share with all development partners and investors,” said the Governor.
