With a day to the official campaign period, Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarup Mishra has officially launched his re-election campaign.
The MP seeking a second term staged a mega roadshow on Friday, May 6, 2022, to signal a start of a do-or-die contest that will see him battle United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominee CPA Julius Ruto.
During the roadshow, Mishra with his convoy comprising of among others legendary musician Micah Maritim, and Mwalimu Kendagor made stopovers in several trading centers along the Eldoret-Nakuru.

Among the centers the legislator’s convoy made stopovers include Hill Tea, Rongai, Matharu, Koriomat, Burnt Forest, Lorien/Koiluget, Bayete, Mugundoi, Ngeria, Cheplaskei, and Cheptiret in a day-long roadshow.
While at Cheptiret, a trading center he described as his political bedroom, Mishra excluded confidence that the people of Kesses will vote for him for a second term.
“By the grace of God and your support, I became a Member of Parliament in 2013. I do not know what I have done, but it is you that will decide if I remain the MP,” the legislator told locals.

He pledged to continue with his development-oriented programs should he be re-elected.
“What I will do and by your blessings, if re-elected, 100 percent literacy for primary, secondary, and university, 100 percent roads, water, and electricity,” Dr. Mishra said.
The legislator who made history as the first non-Kalenjin to be elected a legislator in Uasin Gishu County in 2017 will be seeking re-election as an independent candidate.
He was elected in 2017 on a Jubilee party ticket but while many of the Uasin Gishu locals opted to cross over to UDA, he opted to remain not aligned to any political side.

Aside from an uphill task of beating a UDA nominee – a former Uasin Gishu County Finance Executive in the August 9 poll, Dr. Mishra is hoping to be the first MP to get re-elected in Kesses, a constituency known to never vote back its legislator.
