The latest opinion poll conducted by Mizani Africa shows that it is a two-horse race in the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat – pitting politician Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja and businessman Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop popularly known as Buzeki.
The opinion poll released on May 25, 2022, puts Koti Moja ahead of Buzeki with a margin difference of about 5 percent.
Bii, the UDA nominee has a popularity of 43.9 percent while Buzeki, an independent candidate polled 39.8 percent.
Third, in the race, is former ADC Chief Executive Officer William Kirwa who has an 8.6 percent popularity.
Kirwa is vying for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat using the United Democratic Movement (UDM) party allied to the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
Interestingly, about 7.7 percent of the interviewed did not say which candidate they support, and 4.3 percent of those said they were still undecided.
While Koti Moja is vying for the seat for the first time, Buzeki is making his second attempt, having unsuccessfully vied in 2017.
Mandago ahead in Uasin Gishu Senatorial race
With about 4.3 percent of the undecided population, the race to succeed Governor Jackson Mandago looks not yet settled, with barely two months to the August 9 poll.
Both Buzeki and Koti Moja have recently intensified their campaigns – as they seek to convince the about 450,000 voters to support their bid.
In the Uasin Gishu Senatorial contest, the Mizani Africa opinion poll shows that Governor Mandago has a commanding lead.
Mandago who is the UDA candidate for the Senate seat has a 51.0 percent popularity.
His closest competitor is lawyer Kipchumba Karori who has 29.1 percent in popularity while broadcaster Robert Arap Kemei is third with 11.4 percent.
The current Senator Prof. Margaret Kamar polled 4.3 percent, while 3.4 percent of the respondents said they are still undecided.
Only Mandago is flying a party flag in the Uasin Gishu senatorial race as all others are vying as Independent candidates.
Gladys Boss Shollei is the only candidate vying for the Uasin Gishu County Woman Member of Parliament.
She will be seeking to defend her seat on a UDA ticket and based on the polls, Shollei has 81.6 percent popularity.
11.3 percent of the locals are undecided on whether to re-elect the County Woman MP or not.
