A section of residents in Huruma Ward has endorsed Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s Uasin Gishu gubernatorial Bid.
The endorsement was announced during a mega political rally at the Huruma Grounds on the outskirts of Eldoret town on Sunday, February 20, 2022.
Huruma Member of County Assembly (MCA) Lucy Chomba led the locals in endorsing Jonathan Bii to be the next Governor during what was described as Huruma Declaration.
Hundreds of the locals turned up for the event which Bii assured that his government will focus on among others providing a conducive environment for traders.
“I will ensure that we have modern markets for conducive business, especially for hawkers, women, and youths – we need a place to do business that all can access,” the aspirant told locals.
He also pledged to set aside funds to support youth with capital to start businesses.
“I will offer a stimulus package for women and youth and increase loans for business. Business is the soul of everything,” he promised.
With Huruma and Uasin Gishu by extension being a cosmopolitan area, Jonathan Bii alias Koti Moja also pledged to ensure he forms an all-inclusive government.
The endorsement comes as a major boost to Bii’s bid, considering the ward is among those with the highest numbers of voters.
Taking to his official Facebook page after the event, Jonathan Bii said “We take this most opportune moment to convey our utmost gratitude to the people of Huruma Ward and Turbo Sub County in its’ entirety for the successful political event declaring full support for our gubernatorial quest.“
“Today’s declaration is one among many, both past and still to come, in whose existence and success is a direct organization by the people, that is, people-driven,” he added.
Earlier, Jonathan Bii held a meeting with a section of members of the Muslim community at Maili Nne, who also pledged to support his gubernatorial ambitions.
Alongside Soy MP Caleb Kositany, former envoys Prof Julius Bitok, and Sarah Serem, Jonathan Bii is considered among the favorites to win the UDA nomination.
