Three football teams in Eldoret town are set to benefit from a partnership between Mama Diouf Foundation and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The three, Bondeni Football Club, ESPODEC Starlets as well as Bondeni Junior team are all under the foundation.
As part of the partnership, the foundation will receive volunteer coaches from Japan under the JICA’s overseas volunteer program.

The coaches will be handling the three teams in a move that seeks to develop sports.
Sports and Gender Development are some of the thematic areas that fall under JICAs thematic areas in the country.
“JICA aims at realizing a peaceful society where everyone can equally enjoy sports regardless of gender, social status or other restrictions,” Mama Diouf said.
She spoke after hosting Sachi Watanabe from JICA who was in Eldoret for a two-day visit.

The Mama Diouf Foundation boss further noted that sports was moving to being a social building tool.
“Sports is moving from being a limited activity performed by specific groups of people to becoming a social building tool that allows people in different situations and with different motivations to come together,” she said.
“There are 2 facets of sports development. Development of sports which considers sports as a development issue and works to promote and strengthen the sports itself and development through sports which also considers sports as a means and incorporates sports activities to solve sports issues,” she added.
The partnership between Mama Diouf Foundation and JICA will run for two years that will be renewed for five terms.
