Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago on Monday hosted a delegation from Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) who had paid him a courtesy call.
Speaking during the meeting at county headquarters in Eldoret town, the Governor expressed the need for a well laid down procedure for an Intergovernmental framework that will see the utilization of assets for the public good.
The team seeks to train local committees on the valuation and documentation of registerable assets owned by county governments.
The Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) is a body formed by an act of parliament to establish a framework for consultation and cooperation between the National and County Governments and amongst county governments. This is the body that was further mandated to take over the residual functions of the Transition Authority as envisaged under section 12 (b) of the IGR Act.
Later, the institutional framework for the valuation and transfer of assets of the defunct Local Authorities and National Government relating to devolved functions was unveiled.
Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno, while unveiling the framework and training exercise, said the county government will provide leadership, policy direction, and administrative support to the relevant committees for the purposes of the effective performance of their functions.
He urged the National Technical Coordination and Steering body to hasten the whole exercise before the commencement of the electioneering period to avoid confusion.
