National Paravolley Intercounty Championship Kicks Off In Kitale

The National Paravolley Intercounty Championship games kicked off on Thursday at Social Hall in Kitale town, Trans Nzoia County.

County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water and Environment Aggrey Chemonges who graced the occasion said that the County government of Trans Nzoa will enhance the allocation of funds to cater to all sporting activities.

He applauded the players for the zeal and efforts they exhibited in games despite the challenges they are facing.

Chemonges further called on well-wishers to support the teams so that they can explore their talent.

The best players will be selected during the National Paravolley Intercounty Championship to represent the Country in the coming continental Paravolley Games that will be played in Congo later this month.

A winning team will represent the continent at the 2022 World ParaVolley also known as Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Hangzhou, China between 18–24 May 2022.

The teams expected to participate are Trans Nzoia, Laikipia, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Vihiga, and Kericho among other counties.

World ParaVolley, formerly the World Organization Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD), is an international organization that is for people with physical disabilities. It is affiliated with the International Paralympic Committee(IPC).

The World Organization Volleyball for Disabled was established in 1981 and was part of the International Sports Organization for Disabled (ISOD). In 1992 the WOVD became its own separate Organization in Barcelona, Spain.
