Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga would beat his main competitor Deputy President William Ruto if an election was held today.
An opinion poll by Infotrak Research and Consulting shows that the former Prime Minister has a 42 percent popularity, compared to DP Ruto’s 38 percent.
Based on the survey released on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, Raila would get 9.3 million votes while DP Ruto would have 8.4 million votes.
Statistics from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) show that there are about 22.5 million voters expected to participate in the August 9 poll.
However, the poll shows the two would have to go to a run-off, as none gets to 50 percent plus one vote to be declared the winner in the presidential race.
In terms of popularity per each of the 47 counties, the opinion poll shows that the ODM leader would have won in 20 counties, while DP Ruto is ahead in 16 counties.
