Opinion: Rift Valley of Today Is the Yesterday Mount Kenya

The perception of people from the Mount Kenya region towards politics is usually genuine. To any leader especially outside the region, he/she has to convince them hard enough and give an assurance of their economy.

I see this notion in the Rift Valley region also coming up strongly, especially with the Mount Kenya region now divided by various leaders as some support the Hustler Nation, led by Deputy President William Ruto, while others have stuck with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga.

Rift Valley’s stand to support its leader of choice has been seen as outstanding and bold! They fully support their own to the end. This virtue was once seen in the Mount Kenya region. Let me not tell you how central is being divided solely by powerful politicians.

Rift Valley is one of the largest regions in Kenya, and in the future, it is going to have one and a big say in politics in the country.

The region is now closely following the footsteps of Mount Kenya since they share some commonalities in politics. They have taken one direction towards politics especially on the presidency.

Their support to their leader of choice is always unmatched and would do everything to campaign for him/her. Even if in the future there will be no leader who will vie for the presidential seat, they are going to agree in one voice which direction to take.

Such a show of unity helps ensure the economic growth of the region as they boldly make a statement, sharing their grievances and demands with their preferred presidential candidate before voting for them.

For this reason, the region earns the respect it deserves, as it has been with the Mount Kenya region. With such unity of purpose, it is almost impossible for any presidential candidate to ignore the region.

As every presidential candidate rushes to get the attention of the Mount Kenya region, Rift Valley is going to have a great influence on Kenyan politics in the near future. It is not a matter of if, but when.
