Insight Strategists Solutions Africa on Friday released the ranking of best performing governor’s across the country in the last one year.
In the survey results of the poll conducted in all 47 counties between 24th and 26th of August 2023, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire was ranked the best-performing.
Mbarire serving her first term had a score of 65.4 percent in development.
She was followed by Muranga’s Irungu Kang’ata at 62.8 per cent and Abdi Guyo of Isiolo (60.2%).
Uasin Gishu’s Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja was ranked last with a score of 16.4 percent.
Issa Timammy of Lamu (18.4) and Hillary Barchok (Bomet) are the two other governors in the bottom three of the 47 devolved units
Based on the rankings, women Governors generally performed well with four of them listed among the top 10.
The ranking of the Governors’ Development Ratings provided an aggregate of feedback provided by respondents on a scale of 1-5 based on their perception of the performance of respective Governors in regard to all devolved functions including agriculture, water, health and fiscal management among other factors.
