Uasin Gishu to Hold Quarterly Raiya Foras in Bid to Enhance Performance

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has hinted at plans to hold quarterly public forums that are aimed at tracking and analyzing the progress of projects.

Speaking on Monday at Kapseret/Simat Ward’s Public Participation for 2023-2024 Financial Years’ Budget Estimates, Chief Officer for Finance, Eliud Chemaget, said the administration is focused on development.

Chemaget said Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration is keen on development and accountability which will be enhanced through public forums.

During the public participation forum, water, agriculture, health, and expansion of financial as well as lending programs dominated public speeches.

The public forums kicked off in all 30 wards across the county. They are meant to collect public views on sectors they want the county to focus on in the next one year.

A larger percentage of members of the public said water, agriculture, health, and county loans are among key agendas for the ward.

The finance chief reiterated that Governor Bii’s administration has the interests of wananchi at heart and that development is a priority.

The Governor is well known as ‘Governor wa Raiya.’

Chief Officer for Gender, Eunice Suter, on her part, urged the public to be good managers of finances especially in projects supervised by local committees.

Economic Advisor, Philip Melly, Ward Administrator Abraham Kurgat, and other senior county officials were present.
