The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced changes to its national leadership, filling some of the positions that have been vacant for a while.
UDA National Executive Committee (NEC) made the changes following a meeting held on Monday, February 27, 2023.
The NEC meeting was chaired by President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
The new changes, UDA said, are aimed at solidifying the party.
In a statement on its social media pages, the ruling party said NEC had settled on Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire as the new national chairperson.
Mbarire takes over from Johnstone Muthama who recently resigned after nomination to the Parliamentary Service Commision (PSC).

Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been appointed the new UDA Secretary General.
He takes over from Veronicah Maina.

“The new officials will serve on the interim basis ahead of national elections slated later this year,” the UDA party said in the statement.
UDA is currently preparing for grassroots elections which are expected to be held across all 47 counties.
Membership Recruitment
But in order to adequately prepare for the exercise, the party led by President William Ruto says it will roll out a membership recruitment drive to enhance the registration of persons interested in participating in the exercise.
“The membership registration drive will run from 1st March 2023 to 30th April 2023,” UDA said in the statement.
It also noted that its online registration platform is available on its website.
