There are a number of individuals that have been linked to the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat.
The seat will be getting a second occupant, as the current governor, Jackson Mandago will not be eligible to vie – having served two terms since 2013.
Who will you be voting for? What will you be looking at when deciding the kind of person that fits to succeed Mandago? Party, his/her manifesto, age, gender, or what?
Here is a look at a list of individuals linked to the gubernatorial race;
- Caleb Kositany. He is currently the MP for Soy, serving his first term, having been elected in 2017 on a Jubilee party ticket.
- Amb. Prof.JulIUS Bitok. He vied for the seat in 2013 but lost during the Jubilee party nominations to governor Mandago. He is currently the Kenyan ambassador to Pakistan.
- Vescah Kangogo. She is currently serving as a County Executive Committee Member in Nairobi but hails from Uasin Gishu County.
- Zedekiah Kiprop – Buzeki. He is a billionaire businessman who unsuccessfully vied for the seat in 2017.
- Jonathan Bii Chelilim. Hailing from Soy sub county, Bii unsuccessfully vied for the Soy MP seat in 2017 and lost to Caleb Kositany. As fate have it, they will be facing each other in the gubernatorial seat.
- Cleophas Tirop. He formerly worked as a commissioner at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
