At least 25 suspected members of a notorious criminal gang have been arrested in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspects were apprehended by officers from Kitale Police Station.
The DCI said the group is suspected to be behind a series of attacks on residents in Kitale’s Premium area and its environs.
According to the DCI, the targeted security operation was launched following reports of escalating violence and criminal activities that have been terrorising residents.
“Law enforcement officers from Kitale Police Station have apprehended 25 individuals suspected of being part of a notorious criminal gang responsible for a series of attacks on residents in Kitale’s Premium area and its surrounding areas,” the DCI said.
The 25 suspects are currently in police custody and are being processed ahead of arraignment.
The DCI said the National Police Service will continue with intelligence-led, multi-agency operations to crack down on criminal elements threatening public safety.
“Through sustained intelligence-led, multi-agency operations, the National Police Service (NPS) will continue pursuing individuals who threaten the safety and peace of law-abiding Kenyans, ensuring they are dealt with in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
