The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on Thursday, May 14, 2026, announced new fuel prices that will be in place for the next 30 days.
Under the review, EPRA announced an increase in petrol and diesel prices by Ksh 16.65 and Ksh 46.29 per litre, respectively. The price of kerosene remains unchanged for the period under review
The sharp increase in prices was attributed to the global rise of crude oil due to the Middle East conflict following the US-Israel war with Iran.

With the new changes, the cost of the two key products crossed the Ksh 200 per litre mark. In Nairobi, a litre of super petrol will now retail at a maximum of Ksh 214.25 while diesel will retail at Ksh 242.92.
EPRA also provided maximum pump prices for petrol and diesel in other parts of the country.

The cheapest town to buy petrol and diesel is Mombasa, with maximum pump prices set at Ksh 211.00 for super petrol and Ksh 239.64 for diesel.
In Nakuru, a litre of petrol will retail at Ksh 213.15 while diesel will be Ksh 242.33. Petrol stations in Eldoret will be expected to sell a litre of petrol at Ksh 213.92 and Ksh 243.12 for diesel.
For the lakeside Kisumu city, a litre will retail at Ksh 213.91 for super petrol and Ksh 243.14 (diesel), while a litre of super petrol will cost Ksh 214.15 in Kitale. The price of diesel in the Trans Nzoia County’s capital has been set at a maximum of Ksh 243.42.

With the latest review of the process, the most expensive town to buy fuel is Kibish in Turkana County, where a litre of petrol now retails at Ksh 226.55, with diesel selling at 256.72 per litre.
In Lodwar Town, a litre of super petrol retails at Ksh 220.30 while the diesel price is Ksh 250.01.







EPRA, while announcing the new fuel prices, noted that the government had cushioned consumers through the Petroleum Development Levy Fund (PDL) by utilising approximately KShs. 5 billion to subsidise the prices of Diesel and Kerosene.
