Hundreds of Sitatunga ward residents in Trans Nzoia County on Friday, September 19, 2025 benefitted from a free medical camp organized by the area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Simon Murei.
The camp was organised to help patients who cannot access medical services in private health facilities due to the prolonged nurses’ strike.
Speaking to the press at AIC Sinendet where the medical camp was done, Murei said that he decided to partner with Eldoret city based Life Care hospital to provide free medical services.
“I was tired of seeing my constituents suffer and I resolved to bring on board Life Care hospital so that we help the sick. People with chronic conditions are referred to Eldoret,” Murei said.
What Sitatunga MCA said about Trans Nzoia nurses’ strike
The ward representative further called on the leadership of Trans Nzoia Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) and Governor George Natembeya’s administration to have a dialogue on how to resolve the strike that has paralysed nursing services in all the public health facilities in Trans Nzoia.

He added that a healthy nation is necessary for economic development and nation building.
Life Care’s Public Relations officer, Amos Wesonga urged residents of Trans Nzoia to do regular health check ups.
“What our medics have established in this camp is that the majority of the people have lifestyle diseases and that is why we encourage them to check their bodies regularly,” Wesonga urged.
Some of the patients who spoke to Uasin Gishu News expressed their gratitude arguing that they could not afford to pay for medication in private hospitals because they do not have money and some have not registered themselves with the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Besides medication, the medical camp provided a platform for sensitisation and registration of locals with the national medical scheme.
