Updated List of Shopping Malls in Eldoret, Owners and Cost

Eldoret is one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the country today tipped to be the fifth city.

Already the process of elevating it to city status is at the tail end after the recent adoption of a report by the Uasin Gishu County Assembly.

The only remaining steps are for the report to be debated at the senate, and if approved, the President will be awarding it the charter.

As the process continues, Uasin Gishu’s capital has in recent years been witnessing infrastructural growth – which has seen it get a number of shopping malls.

Interestingly, all the current malls within Eldoret town are located along the main highway.

We take a look at shopping malls in Eldoret, their owners and the amount used to set up.

Elgon view business centre

It is located in Eldoret’s upmarket estate Elgon View – about five minutes drive from the town centre.

It is arguably the smallest mall in Eldoret.

It has a gym, a Supermarket, a Movie theatre, spas, Salons, boutiques, and Movie Shop among others – with locals within the leafy suburbs as their target customers.

It is not yet clear who owns this business centre.

Highlands Mall

It is the newest mall in Eldoret that opened in 2021.

The mall is owned by former Eldoret North MP the late Reuben Chesire.

Khetia’s supermarket is the anchor tenant in the mall located on the west side of Eldoret town.

It also houses Chicken Inn, Bata shop among other companies.

It is estimated that Highlands Mall was constructed at a tune of Ksh800 million.

Rupa’s Mall

It is the most modern mall in Eldoret, and the second to be opened in town.

The mall hosts over 50 stores – among them prominent international brands – KFC, Java, Big Square, EKA Hotel, and Waitiki.

The RUPA’s mall also has a water park, a kids playing area and a state-of-the-art cinema hall among other attractions.

It is an ideal place for a family to visit during holidays. The mall provides 150 car parking slots and is located away from the chaos of the CBD.

The mall sits on an 8.5-acre piece of land with a total built-up area of 35,000 square metres.

Business mogul Ravi Shah is the owner of the mall. Shah is a former Kenyan cricketer.

The right-handed batsman was part of Kenya’s 1999, 2003 and 2007 World Cup squads.

Zion mall

This is the first mall to ever be opened in Eldoret – it was launched in 2011.

It hosts Naivas Supermarket, Aga Khan University Hospital branch, banks, insurance companies, shops and restaurants as well as the Eldoret National Polytechnic Eldoret Town campus.

Eldo centre mall

Eldo Centre Mall hosts Quickmart Supermarket, a bakery, health facilities, and beauty and clothing shops.

It is located next to the Eldoret Huduma Centre.
