The Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Africa Water Ambassadors to support the excavation and lining of water pans for 25 farmers in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Implemented through the Eldoret–Iten Water Fund, the partnership is expected to improve access to affordable irrigation water, strengthen climate-resilient agriculture and enhance livelihoods.
“Priority will be given to youth, women and persons with disabilities,” ELDOWAS said in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 2, 2026.
Under the partnership, Africa Water Ambassadors will finance the excavation of the water pans and contribute 20% of the cost of the liners, while ELDOWAS will contribute the remaining 80% and provide technical support for siting, installation and monitoring.
The MoU was signed by ELDOWAS Managing Director CPA Dr. Lawrence Tanui and Africa Water Ambassadors Chairman Brian Misiati.
“Through strategic partnerships with the Water Funds for Africa and The Nature Conservancy in Africa, we remain committed to protecting water resources, empowering communities and building resilience to climate change,” ELDOWAS said.
