Uasin Gishu MCAs Reject Nomination of Selection Panel Committee Chairperson

Members of the Uasin County County Assembly have rejected the nomination of Bethwel Kimutai.

Kimutai had been nominated by Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim to serve as the chairperson of the panel that will select members of the Uasin Gishu County Public Service Board.

Why Uasin Gishu MCAs rejected Bethwel Kimutai’s nomination

According to a statement from the county assembly, Kimutai’s nomination was rejected after he faied to meet set requirements.

He reportedly did not present his ID card, academic certificates and other relevant documents for verification.

He also failed to answer all questions in the questionnaire and had limited understanding of the panel he was to chair.

His response during the vetting process reflected limited understanding of the legal provisions governing the selection panel,” read part of the statement.

It was also established that Kimutai’s wife serves as a director in the county government of Uasin Gishu, with the MCAs terming it a clear conflict of interest.

This decision has been communicated to the relevant authorities and stakeholders in accordance with the organization’s governance and appointment procedures,” the assembly noted.

Who are members of Uasin Gishu public service board selection panel?

While the chairperson nominee was rejected, nominee for the members of the committee were approved.

They are, Christoper Mitei, FA CPA Isabella Kogo, Lucy Rono and Alice Karanja.

Approval hearing for the nominees was held on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The panel, once fully constituted will be mandated to select individuals who will serve in the Uasin Gishu County Public Service Board.

Term for the current members has come to an end.
