Uasin Gishu County Assembly to Vet Two Jonathan Bii CECM Nominees

The Uasin Gishu County Assembly Committee on Appointment is set to vet two nominees for the position of County Executive Committee Members (CECMs).

Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim nominated the two new CECM – Robert Kemei and Janet Kurgat in May 2025.

Kemei has been nominated to be the new Sports, Youth Affairs, ICT and Innovation county executive while Kurgat to the Public Service Management, Administration and Devolved Units docket.

According to a communication from the County Assembly, vetting for the two will be on Monday, July 21, 2025.

First to appeared before the committee chaired by the Assembly Speaker Phillip Muigei will be the Public Service CECM nominee at 9.00 am.

Kemei, who unsuccessfully vied for he Uasin Gishu Senate seat in 2022, will later be vetted at 10.30 am.

Vetting will be conducted at the assembly’s building in Eldoret City.

Other members of the vetting committee are deputy speaker Sarah Malel, leader of the majority Julius Sang and leader of the minority Francis Muya.

Vetting for the CECM nominee is to check their suitability after which they will table a report to the Assembly.

Members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly will vote to either adopt or reject the nomination.

Should the two names be approved by the MCAs, they will be formally appointed and he sworn in to be members if the Uasin Gishu County Cabinet.
