The AMPATH Integrated Model for Access, Retention and Advanced Breast Cancer Care (IMARA BC) project has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Joyful Women Organization.
According to AMPATH, the MoU will support its IMARA BC efforts to create public awareness about breast cancer especially on prevention through screening and early detection.
It will also play a key role in addressing existing barriers to breast cancer care, planning and marking important breast cancer awareness activities, advocacy and informing policy through a collaborative approach.
“The project is joining hands with Joyful Women’s vast network of 1,700 organized women’s table banking groups with over 250,000 membership nationwide to co-create, disseminate and create awareness on the importance of screening for early detection of breast cancer for better breast cancer care outcomes,” AMPATH said in a statement.
On its part, Joyful Women described the MoU signing as a significant step towards improving women’s health.
It pointed out that the partnership will combine Joyful Women organizations extensive community network with AMPATH’s expertise to expand breast and cervical cancer awareness, increase access to screening, and strengthen essential health services for women across the regions we serve.
“Together, we are opening more doors to life-saving care, empowering women to take charge of their health, and building healthier communities for generations to come,” the organisation whose patron is first lady Mama Rachel Ruto said in a statement on its social media pages.
