Athletics Kenya Sets Early Trials To Fast-Track World Indoor Glory

Athletics Kenya (AK) will hold its trials for the 2026 World Indoor Championships in Poland on January 30-31 in Nairobi.

‎The global showpiece will be staged from March 20 to 22 at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń, Poland.

‎AK is banking on the trials to give athletes a head start in sharpening form and meeting qualification demands.

‎In a statement, the federation confirmed that World Athletics has released the qualification system and entry standards, urging athletes to familiarise themselves with the requirements as preparations intensify.

‎”The World Athletics Indoor Championships will take place from 20th to 22nd March 2026 in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland,” the statement from AK read.

‎”World Athletics officially released the qualification system and entry standards for the competition, and we encourage all athletes to familiarise themselves with these requirements as they prepare for the event,” it added.

Qualifications marks for the 2026 World Indoor Championships

‎Sprint entry marks stand at 7.20 seconds for women and 6.59 seconds for men in the 60m.

‎Other standards include 51.75/45.80 in the 400m, 2:00.90/1:45.80 in the 800m, 4:06.00/3:36.00 in the 1,500m, 8:35.00/7:33.00 in the 3,000m and 8.02/7.65 in the 60m hurdles (women/men).

‎Field event benchmarks include 1.96m/2.30m in the high jump, 4.70m/5.90m in the pole vault, 6.75m/8.17m in the long jump, 14.15m/16.90m in the triple jump and 18.90m/21.20m in the shot put.

‎AK outlined three qualification pathways for athletes hoping to don Kenya’s singlet at next year’s championship.

‎Athletes must have achieved the entry standard within the qualification window.

‎Athletes with a World Indoor Tour wild card are guaranteed a spot, while a high ranking on the Top Performances list will also secure a slot in the global show.

‎All qualifying marks must be recorded between November 1, 2025 and March 8, 2026, in competitions sanctioned under World Athletics rules and listed on the global calendar.
