Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki has urged voters to hold elected leaders accountable to their 2022 campaign pledges ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement posted on Sunday, September 6, the businessman said some sitting leaders are getting agitated when citizens demand accountability.
“Do not be intimidated. Go back to the promises they made in 2022 and audit them promise by promise, word for word,” Buzeki said.
Buzeki, who has unsuccessfully contested for the Uasin Gishu governor seat in 2017 and 2022 and recently joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), said projects initiated after the election should not be used to cover up unfulfilled original commitments.
“Projects introduced later are welcome, but they are extras — toppings. They cannot replace or erase the original commitments upon which the people gave them power,” he stated.
He called on voters not to re-elect leaders who have failed to deliver on their manifestos.
“Do not reward broken promises with another five years. Before you vote in 2027, demand the scorecard,” he added.
In the post, captioned ‘Wadau Wadau – Niaje‘ and signed off with his signature slogan ‘tai ole tai / king ole king‘, Buzeki urged the electorate to evaluate leaders on three questions: What did you promise in 2022? What have you delivered? What is still undone?
“Then vote on performance — not anger, excuses, slogans or last-minute projects. Your vote is not a thank-you note. It is a performance contract,” he said.
