President William Ruto on Friday announced a number of high-ranking promotions, postings and appointments within the leadership of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).
Key promotion and appointment the Head of State made was that of the Chief of the Defense Forces (CDF).
He promoted Liutenant General Francis Omondi Ogolla to the rank of General and appointed him the new CDF.
Ogolla has been the Vice CDF but now takes over from General Robert Kariuki Kibochi who term of service has come to an end after 44 years of military career.
The President also appointed Liutenant General Jonah Mwangi as the Vice Chief of the Defense Forces (VCDF). Mwangi was the Vice Chancellor, National Defense University – Kenya.
Major General Said Farah takes over from Lieutenant General Mwangi as VC, National defense University.
Further, on the advice of the Defense Council, chaired by Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale which met on Friday, the President made various promotions, postings and appointments of KDF officers.

Lieutenant General Francis Omondi Ogolla – Promoted to General and appointed Chief of the Defence Forces
Brigadier David Kipkemboi Keter – Promoted to Major General and appointed Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces Personnel and Logistics (ACDF P&L)
Brigadier Stephen James Mutuku – Promoted to Major General and appointed Senior Directing Staff (Army) National Defence College.
Brigadier John Maison Nkoimo – Promoted Major General and appointed Commandant Joint Command Staff College (JCSC)
Brigadier Abdulkadir Mohammed Burje – Promoted Major General and appointed Director Military Intelligence (DMI)
Brigadier Paul Owuor Otieno – Promoted Major General and appointed Managing Director Kenya Shipyard Limited.
Colonel Anthony Rotich – Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander Military Inteligence Corps.
Colonel Alfred Mwihuri Gitonga – Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Director National Military Coordination Centre.

Major General Jeff mungai Nyagah – Appointed General Officer Western Command (GOC WESTCOM)
Major General Eric Mbugua Kinuthia – Appointed Senior Directing Staff – Air, National Defence College.

Brigadier Yahya Abdi – Appointed Deputy Commander Kenya Navy
“Other changes have also been made across the Kenya Defence Forces in line with the advice of the Defence Council,” Bogita Ongeri, Director Public communications in the Ministry of Defence said.
