Dominion Mission Theological University-Global has conferred Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya with an honorary Doctorate of Humanities (honoris causa).
The Ghanaian-based institution of higher learning recognised Natembeya for his notable commitment and distinguished contributions to serving humanity, promoting peace, and demonstrating exemplary servant leadership throughout his over 25 years of career in civil service.
After receiving the honour, the former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the University for recognizing his immense contribution to peacebuilding and service to humanity.
“I am honoured to be conferred with an honorary Doctorate of Humanities (honoris causa) by Dominion Mission Theological University-Global of Ghana. This is truly a testament to my passion in service to humanity and peacebuilding,” Natembeya said.
He highlighted the importance of fostering peace and unity, especially in diverse communities like Trans Nzoia County.
Natembeya’s role in Kerio Valley insecurity, FGM fight
Natembeya who fought banditry in the Kerio Valley region and female genital mutilation (FGM) in Narok and other neighbouring counties said the honour serves as a motivation and re-energizes his passion for service to humanity.
“This honour is a true reflection of the passion I have for improving the lives of people and fostering unity and peace among communities. It boosts my morale to serve,” he stated.
The former administrator turned politician has initiated several initiatives meant to transform the lives of people living in his cosmopolitan county.
His Ukombozi Elimu Scholarship seeks to ensure that needy students enjoy their right to education.
When took power as the second Governor of Trans Nzoia, Natembeya initiated the Ukombozi Mbegu programme to ensure that needy families are food secure and economic empowerment through the Nawiri Fund.

Following this recognition, the county boss joins the league of political leaders with the prefix title doctor in their names.
Meanwhile, Natembeya called on political leaders and citizens to be peace ambassadors.
