‘Give Ruto Time, He Will Deliver’, Eldoret Bishop Asks Kenyans

Religious leaders in Eldoret town are asking Kenyans to be patient with the new Kenya Kwanza administration.

Led by Bishop Wycliffe Amayi, the clergy say it is too early to expect the new administration to deliver all they promised.

In an interview with Uasin Gishu News, Bishop Amayi noted that President William Ruto is for now crafting his team and once done, he believes will embark on transforming the country as promised.

President Ruto was just recently sworn in, he is still new. He promised to do, and I know he will do. Let us not hurry him. We should give him time to deliver his agenda,” said the Calvary Holiness and Repentance Ministry Bishop.

Ruto took oath of office as the fifth President of Kenya on September 13, 2022. His reign starts at a time there has been concerns over high cost of living contributed by high fuel prices.

But despite promising to reduce the fuel prices, he announced an end of fuel subsidy that has led to a sharp rise in the commodity now at Ksh179 per litre for super petrol.

Even though fuel prices went up recently, there is a time it will drop,” the Bishop said.

However, he urged the head of state to ensure he rules without fear or favor.

Bishop Amayi says Ruto is now the President of all Kenyans – those that voted for him as well as those that were in the opposing side.

Whatever happened during the campaigns is no behind us. Those that might have insulted the president or despised him let us forget and forge ahead as a united country,” he noted.

CBC review

Concerning the ongoing discussion of whether to scrap the new Education system – Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) or not, the Calvary Holiness and Repentance Ministry Bishop says it should be given a chance.

He cautions that reverting back to the 8-4-4 system which is being phased out might lead to confusion among learners.

If Kenya Kwanza says we scrap CBC, then the next administration brings it back, we will be confusing out children. Let CBC continue. The government should only find a way of ensuring the system is pocket friendly to the parent,” noted the Eldoret-based clergy.

During his inaugural address as the President, Ruto said he would establish an education reform taskforce to look into CBC.

He said a report from the taskforce will be ready before January 2023, when learners are expected to transition to junior secondary schools under CBC.
