The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, through the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, has released Ksh 4.6 billion for payment to over 1.15 million older persons and persons living with severe disabilities enrolled in the Inua Jamii Program.
The disbursement covers stipends for both the June and July 2025 payment cycles.
Each beneficiary will receive Ksh 4,000, representing Ksh 2,000 per month for two months. Payments commenced on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
According to Joseph Motari, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, the June cycle payment was delayed due to a data cleanup exercise.
“The State Department apologises to beneficiaries for any inconvenience caused by the delay,” Motari said in a statement issued on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
The Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme aims to alleviate poverty and promote the well-being of society’s most vulnerable members, including older persons aged 70 and above, orphans and vulnerable children, and persons with severe disability.
“In line with the government’s commitment to ensuring universal health coverage, the Ministry encourages all Inua Jamii beneficiaries to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to access affordable and quality healthcare,” the PS noted.
