The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a statement following emergence of reports that it had changed reporting date for sports recruits.
A document to that was doing rounds on social media had claimed Interior and National Coordination Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i had moved the reporting date to late in August.
The National Police Service (NPS) has since flagged the document as fake.

In a statement on their social media pages issued on Saturday, July 16, 2022, NPS also termed the report as work of conmen.
“Our attention has been drawn to a fake document circulating on social media alleging postponement of reporting date for sports recruits to the National Police College,” NPS said in part of the statement.
“We wish to notify the public that this is the work of conmen out to defraud innocent and unsuspecting members of the public under the pretext of recruitment into the police service,” it added.

NPS which has constitutional powers of hiring police officers further advised members of the public to always do a due diligence on matters of alleged recruitments “by confirming with relevant NPS officials sources including NPS Website among others.”
“Inquiries may also be made at any police station or on our toll free numbers 999, 112, 911 and #FichuaKwaDCI 0800 722 703,” noted NPS.
