Ksh1.3 Million Bhang Nabbed In Roadblock, Eldoret

Police officers in Eldoret are holding a man suspected to be behind a haul of bhang that was recently nabbed in the Roadblock area.

Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi said the bang valued at over Ksh1.3 million was nabbed following an operation at an unfinished business in the area.

Addressing the press at the area, Mwanthi said the operation followed a tip-off from members of the public.

The nabbed bang was 39 kilograms and another 5,000 rolls.

We also netted several litres of illicit alcohol and ethanol that is used in the brewing business,” the police boss told journalists.

He thanked members of the public for sharing the information with the police which led to the arrest of the culprit.

However, Mwanthi cautioned members of the public against remaining silent should they witness any illegal activities.

He advised them to pay attention to activities in unfinished or abandoned buildings within their area.

Aside from Tuesday’s arrest, the Uasin Gishu County Police Commander revealed that they have been conducting an operation targeting areas known for rampant illicit brew manufacture.

On Monday, the team conducted an operation in the Afrikana area where six people were arrested.

Police also netted over 100 cartons of illicit alcohol, 30 litres of ethanol and implements used in the illegal trade.

Those arrested are expected to be arraigned in court to face various criminal charges.
