The Ministry of Education has appointed Prof. Daniel Chebutuk Rotich to be the new Kabarnet University College acting principal.
Prof Rotich has been a don at the Moi University.
According to Moi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiplagat Kotut, Prof Rotich is a distinguished academician with vast experience working in the university system and has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership, dedication and commitment to advancing higher education.

“We applaud his proven leadership skills, which inspire confidence that he will steer the University College to greater heights in line with its Vision: “A Centre of Excellence in Academic Mentorship, Research and Innovation for sustainable resource utilization,” Prof Kotut said on Friday, August 22, 2025.
“We wish him well in this new role and pray for God’s favour, wisdom, and guidance as he undertakes this important responsibility,” he added.
When was Kabarnet University College established?
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba officially gazetted Kabarnet University College, on July 2025.
The institution based in Baringo County will operate as the constituent college of Moi University.
It’s expected to receive is first batch of students during the September 2025 intake.
Moi Teachers Training College (TTC) Seretunin will serve as a temporary campus for University College of Kabarnet.

However, the long-term plan is part of the Kabarak Boys High School land to be used for the university.
The school has since donated 50 acres for the project that will ultimately see Baringo county gets it’s first public university.
