Residents and parents of Kaptebee location, Tapsagoi Ward in Uasin Gishu County are still in shock following the death of three pupils of Queen of Angels Academy.
The three died early morning on Thursday, July 10, following an unfortunate incident where a temporary pit latrine collapsed while they were easing themselves.
Uasin Gishu County Governor Dr Jonathan Bii has sent his condolences to the bereaved families and the school as he pledged to stand with them during this difficult moment.
According to Uasin Gishu Chief fire Officer David Sitati who was incharge of the operation, the three pupils who died are learners of PP1 and are female aged between two the age of 5 and six.
It is alleged that the pit latrine, which has been used for quite some time caved in as a result of weakened ground following the ongoing heavy rainfall in the region.
Sitati has urged the public in general to be cautious during this heavy rain season that poses such risks, especially along river banks, swampy areas, water catchment areas and other places which experience flooding during heavy downpours.
The retrieved bodies were later taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary by the Turbo police officers.
