Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development Dr Janeth Kosgei, has reassured the officials of Tingwa farm, Ainabkoi Olare ward of the Governor’s Intention to review pending land issues and ensure tenure security is factored in appropriately.
While hosting officials of the farm, Dr Kosgei said that the Governor’s Nguzo Kumi manifesto seeks to resolve land tenure security for all wananchi in Uasin Gishu and that such programmes are already ongoing in Kesses.
Tingwa officials acknowledged that surveyors have already picked the current status and provisional inventory of land owners and the right acreages established.
“We are undertaking programmes to create land use and development plans for various trading centres in Uasin Gishu and Tingwa is not an exception. We are mandated to provide adequate formula to address land tenure security and we shall do our best to deliver,” said Dr.Kosgei.
In his remarks, Chief Officer Lands and Physical Planning Nathan Korir reiterated his commitment to work with the community to achieve their titles immediately.
“Planning is a key component that enables acquisition of titles. When surveyors have finished their part, Planners will undertake planning and eventually approval of the plan will give way for title processing,” advised Korir.
In the same meeting Area MCA Hon. Gilbert Chepkong’a said that he is in support of the process and assured of the County assembly’s support in plan approvals to speed up the process.
Also in attendance were Director Lands Nelly Jerotich and senior Planner Charles Kimani.
