Trans Nzoia Assembly Committee on Appointment Vets George Natembeya’s Four CECM Nominees

Trans Nzoia County Assembly Committee on Appointment has concluded vetting for four County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) recently nominated by Governor George Natembeya.

The four appeared before the committee chaired the County Assembly Speaker Andrew Wanyonyi.

Appearing before the committee on Friday, September 19, 2025, Water and Environment nominee Kerio Lorot said he will use his local and international connections to secure funding to run some activities of his department.

He stated that he has contacts capable of sponsoring projects, acknowledging that the government budget alone is insufficient to complete development projects.

Lorot is a holder of a Master’s degree in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications.

One of the Trans Nzoia CECM nominees vetted by the County Assembly on September 19, 2025.

Other nominee vetted is Robert Wamalwa being fronted for the Public Service Management Department.

Wamalwa said he will utilize his conflict resolution skills to facilitate dialogue in resolving frequent worker strikes.

Dialogue is everything. I will ensure workers’ welfare is taken care of,” Wamalwa said.

The nominee is brother to DAP-K Party Leader Eugene Wamala. He defended his nomination which he said was based on merit.

Wamalwa clarified that in 2002, he vied for a councillor seat on a KANU ticket not because his relationship with his late brother Michael Wamalwa of Ford Kenya was sour, but due to the high level of democracy his family embraced.

Natembeya nominated Eugene Wamalwa’s brother to be CECM.

Meanwhile, Lands nominee Pius Gumo said he will leverage his economic skills in handling land matters.

Gender CECM nominee Eliud Turmoi expressed his commitment to the welfare of the youth.

The committee is expected to present it’s report to the County Assembly for consideration.

If approved by MCAs, the four will be sworn in and join the county cabinet.
