Access to emergency healthcare in Trans Nzoia County has received a major boost.
This is after the county government completed setting up an Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre.
Located at at Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kitale Town, the centre is expected to ensure faster ambulance response across the county.

The centre, established with support from the Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation (EMKF), will be accessible through a toll-free number, 0800724994, allowing residents to report incidents and request rescue services.
County teams underwent training from September 15 to October 4, led by EMKF experts.
The facility will use the Ambulensi App to track emergencies, identify patient locations, and deploy the nearest ambulance while coordinating with security and fire response units.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya commissioned the county’s Emergency Medical Care Plan in May, marking what officials say is a major milestone in strengthening local healthcare.
Its only recently that West Pokot County also launched their Emergency Operations Centre.
The centre in Kapenguria was set up through the support of the Kenya Red Cross Society.
