The County Government of Uasin Gishu has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing both the quality and timeliness of service delivery across its health facilities.
During a high-level meeting held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, with managers of high-volume health facilities, the County’s top leadership underscored the critical role of strategic revenue enhancement in transforming healthcare delivery.
Health Services County Executive Joseph Lagat stressed the importance of scaling up revenue generation, urging facility managers to be proactive and innovative.
“We must maximize our revenue streams not just for the sake of numbers, but to ensure our people receive the services they deserve—without delay and without compromise,” said Lagat.

He further emphasized that health service providers must rise to the occasion, delivering services unconditionally as both a moral obligation and a professional duty.
How much revenue did Uasin Gishu Health Department collect in 2025?
On his part, Finance and Economic Planning Executive Micah Rogony lauded the Health Services Department for achieving a remarkable revenue leap—from Ksh 42 million to Ksh 193 million in the past year—contributing to a 22% surge in the County’s own-source revenue.
“According to a study by the National Treasury, the health sector in Uasin Gishu has the potential to generate up to Ksh 593 million annually. The opportunity is massive, and we must seize it,” remarked Rogony.
He urged healthcare workers to align their efforts with the President’s Universal Health Coverage agenda, noting its pivotal role in ensuring drug availability, quality service delivery, and the activation of the Social Health Authority (SHA) across all facilities.

Eldoret City Manager Elzeba Busienei echoed these sentiments, encouraging health managers to prioritize resident-centered solutions that both improve lives and expand the county’s revenue base.
“We are currently mapping services within the city, and healthcare is a top priority. If we uplift services, revenues will follow,” she said.
The session also featured insights from Chief Officer for Economic Planning Nixon Cheplong, who highlighted the importance of addressing systemic challenges.
“This meeting is a crucial step toward identifying gaps and improving our collection systems, which in turn will reflect in the quality of services offered,” noted Cheplong.
As Uasin Gishu positions itself as a model county in healthcare delivery and financial sustainability, the county officials emphasized that this is only the beginning.
