The establishment of the long-awaited Kapenguria University College has taken a major step forward following a comprehensive inspection by a technical team from the University of Nairobi to assess the readiness of the proposed campus.

‎A delegation that conducted the inspection was received by members of a taskforce on the establishment of a constituent university college in West Pokot County, which has spearheaded efforts to actualize the project.

‎The multidisciplinary team from the University of Nairobi, comprising experts from the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Infrastructure, ICT, the Registrar’s Office, Quality Assurance, Administration, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Finance departments, conducted a detailed assessment of the facility.

‎The team inspected the 72-acre campus and evaluated key infrastructure, including lecture halls, offices, the student centre, kitchen and dining facilities, sanitation systems, water treatment infrastructure, and the institution’s overall capacity.

They also confirmed the availability of essential support infrastructure, including a backup power generator.

‎The facility is set to operate as a constituent university college under the University of Nairobi, with preparations at an advanced stage ahead of its official opening and admission of the inaugural cohort of students in August this year.

‎The project marks the realization of Governor Simon Kachapin’s manifesto pledge to revive the Keringet University project and bring quality, affordable higher education closer to the people of West Pokot.
