The County Government of Uasin Gishu has officially resumed the disbursement of bursary funds, ending a nearly year-long delay that left thousands of students and parents in limbo.
Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim on Monday, May 18, 2026, announced the release of a record KSh 186.5 million, which will benefit over 24,900 students across the county.
The resumption follows the approval by the Office of the Controller of Budget, achieved through what the Governor described as persistent engagement and continuous consultations.

The first phase of the payments specifically targets beneficiaries from Moiben and Karuna/Meibeki Wards.
“Following approval by the Office of the Controller of Budget, and through persistence, consultations, and continuous engagement, our County is now among the few counties that have successfully resumed the disbursement of bursary funds,” the governor said.
He further highlighted the administration’s long-term commitment to the sector.
“Education remains the greatest investment we can make for the future of our people, and we shall continue prioritising programs that empower learners and support families,” he said.

This injection of funds aims to stabilise education access for families who rely on this support to sustain their studies after months of uncertainty.
