The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on Thursday announced that Wilson Airport had been honored with the prestigious Regional Airport of the Year Award at this year’s Aviators Africa Tower Awards.
KAA in an update on its social media pages said Wilson Airport brushed off a fierce competition to scoop the top prize in the brand category.
It was battling for the award against Kimberly Airport in South Africa, Kumasi Airport in Ghana, as well as Nigeria’s Uyo Airport.
According to the Kenya Airports Authority “This victory highlights our unwavering dedication to excellence and innovation.”
KAA Regional Airport Manager, overseeing Wilson and Northern Region Airports Joseph Okumu on Thursday presented the award trophy to authority’s acting Managing Director (MD) Henry Ogoye.

Organized by Aviators Africa, the Tower Awards celebrate and recognize outstanding achievements and sustainability within the African Aviation sector.
Further, the Award ceremony took place on 29th September 2023, coinciding with the African Aviation Sustainability Conference (AASC) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated team, partners, and all contributors to this remarkable achievement,” noted KAA.
“Your support has been invaluable, and we are honored to share this success with you all,” it added.
Wilson Airport serves domestic and international traffic. It is also used mostly by general aviation traffic.
