Timboroa Community Forest Association turned out in large numbers for a tree planting event during the short rains tree growing season.
In the mission to attain 30 percent tree cover by 2032, 22,590 trees were established across an area of 14.1 hectares in Kamur, Timboroa Forest Station, Uasin Gishu County.
Dr. Thomas Kiptoo, the acting DCCF Forest Advisory and County Liaison spearheaded the tree planting session, encouraging other members of the public to participate.

In a speech he delivered on behalf of the Chief Conservator of Forests, Alex Lemarkoko, he urged the community to continue cultivating trees for a better future.
He encouraged private tree nursery operators to register their nurseries in the KFS portal to boost seedling production available in KFS nurseries across the country.

Uasin Gishu County currently maintains a tree cover of 8 per cenr, and in working towards increasing its cover, the county is expected to establish 14.9 million trees yearly. 28 million tree seedlings have been planted in the county so far, since the 15 billion campaign launched.

The Timboroa CFA with 1,200 members has fully embraced the theme of the campaign; 15 Billion Trees, Kazi Yetu, Urithi Wetu; having officially cleared their backlog today.
Also attending the event was Head of Tree Nursery Development Ashiono Fredrick, Uasin Gishu CFC Kenneth Muskiton, Timboroa Forester Tobias Achungo. Others included National Government Administrative Officers, KEFRI, Huduma Kenya and X Generation Youth Group.
