Sarah Malel: Kimumu MCA to Vie for Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Seat in 2027

The Uasin Gishu County Woman Member of Parliament seat continues to attract more aspirants, just two years to the next general election.

While it remains unclear whether the current office holder, Gladys Boss, will be seeking a third term, several women have come out to declare interest in the seat.

The latest to join the growing list of those eyeing the seat is Kimumu Member of County Assembly (MCA) Sarah Malel.

Malel who is serving her second term as the MCA on Saturday, August 23, 2025, declared her interest in the seat.

Which seat will Sarah Malel vie for in 2027?

In 2027, I will be coming to you to seek for a promotion and by God’s grace, I will be vying for the women rep seat,” the MCA, who is also the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Deputy Speaker declared.

She spoke at Central Primary School Grounds during the end of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church Greater Rift Valley Conference quiquennium mega camp meeting.

Malel has been among few elected women MCAs in Uasin Gishu for the last two general elections.

At the same event, Kate Kirui and Hellen Jeptoo, both of who lost to Gladys Boss during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination for the women rep seat in 2022 said they will be back in race.

Many know me and I’ll still be vying for the women rep seat. This time I will protect my voters,” Kirui said.

Since 2013, Uasin Gishu has has two County Woman MPs. Eusilah Ngeny was the first holder of the position, serving for only one term from 2013 to 2017 after which Gladys Boss was elected.
