Five players attached to the Espodec Starlets – a girl’s football team based in Langas estate have officially been enrolled at the Mwangiz Institute of Cosmetology.

The five will be studying various Fashion and Design courses as part of a partnership that Espodec Starlets recently sealed with the Eldoret-based institutions.

Under the partnership, the best players from the team were to get free training on a course of their choice from the Mwangiz Institute of Cosmetology.

The best player in each game was also to get a Monday beauty makeover.

To kick start their training, four of the five girls were on Monday taken through an orientation session at the institution.

The four are Dinah Nanyama, Nancy Cherono, Hannah Nyambura as well as Joyce Njeri.

The fifth girl, Brenda Jerotich is away in Tharaka Nithi, representing the Elgeyo Marakwet County girls’ Football team in the Kenya Inter-County Youth Sports Association (KIYSA) games kicking off this Monday.

Espodec Starlets coach Maurice Kamau says the four have since picked their preferred courses.

Course of their choice

Dinah will be trained in hairdressing and Nancy in an event decoration course while Joyce and Hannah have picked Fashion and Design.

Brenda is expected to pick her preferred course once she returns back from the KIYSA assignment.

When he signed a partnership with Espodec Starlets, Mwangiz Institute of Cosmetology Principal Phillip Maina said it was meant to help the girls get basic skills that would enable them to be self-sustaining financially.

“We believe the three to six-month courses will make them independent financially, enabling them to move away from relying on other people. We have started with the best players that Espodec will get, we will train them, encourage them as well as give them moral support,” Maina told Uasin Gishu News.
